The Bee also tweeted the article and its headline. Two days later, The Bee announced that Levine was its “Man of the Year,” apparently intending to mock Levine’s identity as a transgender woman. On March 13, 2022, USA Today named Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine as one of its “Women of the Year” for her role in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Nominated by President Joe Biden in 2021, she previously served as Pennsylvania’s secretary of health, starting in 2018. Department of Health and Human Services, is openly transgender.
